Radio talk with the Social Welfare and Ghana Health Service

This morning the 9th of June 2014 at 8.30 am we had a radio talk with the Social Welfare, Ghana Health Service, etc.
We educated the public on causes of rape, signs and symptoms and side effects of rape. Mr. Gilbert Kofi Germain summarized by recommending the three main areas to reduce rape cases in Ghana.

1) Parents commitment in educating their children. They also should share parental love with their children, so that they feel frank to share their problems with them. The parents should create a very good relationship with their kids to put away fear from them and guide them properly. We also realize that most parents do not have skills and experience to educate and train their children well.

2) Chiefs and Queenmothers (Rulers of the land) should take some social responsibilities to set up rules to protect children from rape and sexual assault in our communities.

3) Government commitment to provide logistics to help Social Welfare, DOVVSU (Department of Violence Victim Social Units), CHRAJ (Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice) and Juvenal services who are in charge of human rights and sexual and rape cases. The Government should help those sectors to make people find it easy to get their services.

We also would like to thank the participants Mr. Kutsi (Swedru Municipal Hospital), Mr. Anim Boanu (Disease Control Officer-GHS), Mr. Mauli (Social Analyst), Mr. Anuako (Promotion officer Social Welfare), Mr. Asiedu-Locasah (Host) and Esther Pinkrah.
